abstract = {Background: An accurate preoperative diagnosis that helps distinguish between benign and malignant parotid gland tumors is very important because the results strongly affect surgical procedures. We aimed to evaluate the value of single-source dual-energy computed tomography (ssDECT) in differentiating malignant from benign parotid gland tumors.
Methods: Fifty patients underwent enhanced neck ssDECT scanning before surgery. The images were analyzed using the gemstone spectral imaging (GSI) viewer software.
Results: Fifty-two tumors (43 patients) were confirmed histopathologically, comprising of 12 pleomorphic adenomas (PAs), 24 Warthin tumors (WTs) (15 patients), and 16 malignant tumors (MTs).
